Data
- Communication relationships through phone calls made among the entire set of participants for two weeks (June 1st to June 14th, 2010)
- Physical proximity detected through Bluetooth during the same time. The physical proximity data are computed in two layers:
- A pair of people appearing in a physically close distance with other people nearby
( If a participant had more than one person nearby in any given period of thirty minutes, one might suspect that the neighbors had a low level of intimacy with her or him.) - A pair with no other people around
Color Coding & Interaction
- Top Buttons
- The default view shows both communication and physical relationship
- “Only Bluetooth”: shows the relationship linked only through the physical proximity
- “Only Call”: shows the relationship linked only through the phone calls
- Press on a node, then the visualization shows a different color for the four types of relationships of linked nodes:
- Grey for low-level of physical closeness without call communication
- Pink for high-level of physical closeness with call communication
- Blue for only call communication
- Purple for both exclusive sharing of physical place and call communication
- Stroke weight of the edges
- Pairs of items with more entries have thicker curves
- The length of edges does not represent any information.
- When a node is released after click, it position is fixed.
