Case Study: Proceedings / Summary

Visiting Professor Talan Memmott charged his class “Visual Culture and Design” with the following assignment:

“Continuing along the lines of a phenomenology of media discussed in class... Keep a log of your interactions with media on a daily basis. Become aware of how much the world is a media experience both on and offline, with or without television. Take a walk and consider the degree to which you are asked by everyday events and encounters to deal with media. Take some pictures, do some writing, make some drawings. Compile and combine the collected information and make a digital artifact.”

Inspired by David Byrne’s Powerpoint art, I chose to combine Powerpoint, collage of digital photographs of media, and an MP3 into a performed visual text(ure).
